About

Laurelle Brown Training and Consultancy (LBTC) was born in 2017, following numerous requests for Principal Consultant, Laurelle Brown, to provide training and advice to organisations and services across a range of topics such as anti-discriminatory practice, child sexual exploitation and modern slavery and trafficking.

LBTC now consists of a diverse team of core and associate staff with extensive experience in Human Resources, Executive Coaching, Child Protection, Child and Adult Safeguarding, Community Development and more. We provide end-to-end learning, development and consultancy services for a diverse range of organisations and services, including children’s services, third sector organisations, legal firms and retail chains.

Our team possesses extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in strategic and operational leadership and management across child protection, safeguarding and inclusion and diversity.

Our mission

LBTC believes in a holistic approach to supporting leaders and staff in delivering high quality, inclusive organisations and services. Our approach consists of four core elements: Innovation, Challenge, Genuine Inclusion and Participation.

LBTC’s consultancy, learning and development ensures content and delivery is tailored to meet the needs of all audiences. Our method is tried and tested to achieve desired outcomes and translate client ideas and ambitions into reality; that is:

  • Foster workplace and/or community equity, a shared sense of belonging and confident leaders so employees, customers and/or services users can thrive.
  • Deliver high quality, anti-discriminatory services and practice for children, young people and families.

 

Inclusion and belonging

Inclusion and belonging are more than just buzz words at LBTC. They are what we espouse and epitomise as individuals, and as an organisation.

The LBTC team consists of natural strategic thinkers, who passionately support organisations through bespoke approaches to foster workplace and/or community equity, a shared sense of belonging and confident leaders. We support organisations in the design and delivery of change and transformation initiatives that translate inclusion and belonging ideas and aspirations into reality. This ranges from organisational and/or service audits and/or assessments, to policy, strategy, action plan and/or road map design and implementation, to talent management, to the design and embed of frameworks and toolkits. In addition, we design, contribute to and/or deliver a range of bespoke, one-off and long term learning and development events and programmes to a range of audiences.

All of our core and associate team have a proven history of fostering strong relations across multi-disciplinary functions and with clients, stakeholders, and c-suite officers to support the making good of commitments and intentions through action and impact. Clients have included Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families, Mind Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow, London Borough of Barnet, Osbornes Solicitors and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

Child protection and safeguarding

At LBTC, we work with a range of children and young people’s services to ensure high quality practice and delivery for children and families. This ranges from reviewing practice tools and approaches, services and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities to embed good practice; to policy and governance; to service co-design and implementation; to workforce learning and development programmes. Our diverse team of consultants and trainers, all have years of frontline experience, including management, and are qualified in their respective fields. We ensure an intersectional lens is applied to all work that we undertake, ensuring the multiple identities and experiences of children and families is understood and accommodated across the systems, approaches and tools in their lives.

The professional and personal experience across the team has equipped LBTC with strong systems leadership skills that enable the effecting of impactful strategic change and transformation across systems. Clients have included TACT Fostering and Adoption, Merton Children’s Services, Shining Stars Fostering Agency, Barnet Children’s Services and Ascent Fostering Agency.

In addition, the team possess extensive life experience and have attended innumerable informal education and training throughout their careers to remain professionally updated.

Achievements

All LBTC projects can be delivered virtually or in person (subject to health and safety measures). We use a range of platforms to ensure our client’s needs can be met, including Zoom, MS Teams, Google hangouts and Skype.

We have developed a wide range of tools and resources to ensure the successful execution of projects, this includes service model design, organisational audit, staff and stakeholder feedback/survey, and framework tools.
